DENTON, TEXAS — Delia Parker-Mims, the current chair of the Denton County Democratic Party (DCDP), is now a candidate for the Texas Democratic Party (TDP) chair.

Said Parker-Mims, “I want to repeat statewide the success I’ve helped implement in Denton County. My broad experience crafting strategic plans and implementing them by energizing volunteers will lead the Texas Democratic Party to winning statewide elections. My main goal is to drive the TDP to welcome more members into our tent so that we become One Team. As One Team, we will win more elections.”

Parker-Mims transformed the DCDP during her term that began in 2021, and the results testify to her extraordinary efforts and those of dedicated volunteers. In 2024, 130,000+ voter contacts were made for the presidential election alone in Denton County.

The DCDP was #1 among Texas’ seven-largest counties in increasing Democratic voter turnout in both 2022 and 2024. That increased Democratic turnout is attributable to the DCDP’s Fight Back, Register 50 registration campaign, the largest and most targeted such effort among county Democratic parties. Parker-Mims’ charismatic leadership of the DCDP also helped it increase volunteerism and raise funds.

“As the TDP chair, I’d bring to the entire state a defined mission for which I will forward and execute an effective plan for Democrats to win,” she noted.

Parker-Mims also aims to bolster TDP communications by offering voters more information via media channels like podcasts and videos. “We can’t expect independents, disgruntled Republicans, and undecideds to move to our side if we don’t clearly explain what Democrats will do for them. Plus, young voters favor podcasts and videos since they can watch them anytime,” she said.

The launch of Parker-Mims’ campaign will be on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, from 3-5 p.m.

Raised in El Paso and senior class president at Irvin High School before her graduation in 1986, Parker-Mims graduated from Southern Methodist University and became an attorney. Taught by her parents to care for others, her clients are underserved youth and elders.

Besides serving as a vice president for Friends of the Family and on the boards of directors for Denton County Child Protective Services and the Denton Black Chamber of Commerce, Parker-Mims has also served as a member of Communities in School, Legal Aid of North Texas, the State Bar of Texas, Concerned Citizens and African American Parents (CCAAP), Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the Lewisville, Flower Mound and Lake Cities Chambers of Commerce.

A longtime Lewisville resident, Parker-Mims is married, has two children and attends Westside Baptist Church.
